The Methuen statue

We are honoured to have been given permission to make use of Judy Methuen’s wonderful bust of Shakespeare drawn from the “Cobbe portrait” re-discovered fairly recently. She has turned that two-dimensional work into a 3D sculpture that could well be the most accurate representation – and perhaps the closest – to Shakespeare when alive.

The bust has been exhibited at The Globe and at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and we are delighted that we can use an image of Judy Methuen’s brilliant work at the heart of the identity for The Bard’s Night.
